My personal opinion is Smallmouth Bass should NOT be in California. StevieDingus really hits the nail on the head, and I agree. Originally posted by wyldechylde77:Killerwhale, we've discussed this a couple of times in regards to the Smallmouth. ![]() Just for fun:Īnd here is one of the Smallies I caught: In fact, was just out yesterday (10-26) on the Niagara River fishing for them. And as you do know, I speak from many years of experience as a Smallmouth Bass fisherman IRL. Leave them in place and in the numbers that they are in Michigan and NC, remove from elsewhere. So in a nutshell, I always say use the species in thier natural environments, and Smallmouth Bass are basically Northern fish. The trout species that SHOULD be there are Lake Trout *Side Note: currently, the Brookie is out of place in Michigan. That said, I don't know who else feels this way, but Brook Trout BELONG in Colorado and Oregon! Both of those lakes beg for em, and those type of environments serve the Brook Trout well. ![]() Oregon also does not need Smallmouth Bass, nor Colorado as they are viewed as predominantly Trout Lakes. Basically, the waterways in the game where Smallmouth make the most sense are Michigan and North Carolina. The three most prominent species in the Great Lakes are the Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, and Yellow Perch. ![]() Killerwhale, we've discussed this a couple of times in regards to the Smallmouth. ![]()
